Docker is seeking a Principal Sales Engineer to own the technical sales strategy for the US Public Sector, covering both Department of Defense and Federal Civilian agencies. This is a single-seat role reporting to the Director of Solutions Engineering, positioned at the intersection of technical depth, mission understanding, and competitive selling. You will serve as the technical face of Docker to agency CIOs, CISOs, program offices, and platform teams, acting as a trusted advisor and champion owner. Key responsibilities include: Technical Selling & Deal Shaping: Lead deep technical discovery across program offices, DevSecOps teams, and security organizations to understand AI governance requirements, software supply chain risk posture, accreditation constraints, and air-gapped environment needs. Shape technical requirements early in acquisition cycles so evaluation criteria reflect Docker's differentiated value in AI governance, container security, and supply chain integrity. Design and execute structured proofs-of-concept focused on policy enforcement, image integrity, SBOM generation, hardened base images (FIPS/STIG-aligned), AI workload governance, and secure build pipelines in constrained networks. AI Governance & Thought Leadership: Establish credibility as a trusted advisor on responsible AI development, secure AI model lifecycle management, software supply chain integrity, container security in accredited environments, and federal DevSecOps practices. Guide agency teams in implementing governance controls across AI-enabled SDLC workflows and represent Docker publicly through industry days, technical exchanges, conferences, and content creation. Federal Compliance Expertise: Serve as SME on Docker's fit within federal security frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST 800-53/171, DISA STIGs, DoD Impact Levels). Explain compliance artifacts, FIPS variants, and attestations. Support RFI/RFP responses and technical evaluations. Advise on deployment patterns for on-premises, air-gapped, and government cloud environments. Technical Champion Ownership: Build and expand relationships with technical champions across agencies, ensuring Docker's solutions are embedded in long-term platform strategies. Partner closely with Account Executives, Post-Sales, Product, and the partner ecosystem to drive measurable mission and technical value.
