Zscaler is seeking a Principal Sales Engineer to join its APJ Field Sales team in a hybrid role based in Gurgaon or Mumbai, India. This is a senior technical sales position reporting to the Senior Director of Sales Engineering.
In this role, you will serve as an industry expert and trusted advisor to enterprise customers and prospects, guiding them through their transformation from legacy network and perimeter-based security architectures to Zero Trust Architecture principles leveraging the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange platform. You will facilitate consultative discovery and design workshops to uncover customer business requirements and current-state infrastructure, then architect high-level Zero Trust solutions with phased adoption roadmaps that enable customers to evolve their security posture over time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading discovery and design workshops across customer functional teams
- Architecting Zero Trust solutions and transformation roadmaps
- Engaging seamlessly with both C-suite executives and IT operations teams
- Building rapport across customer, partner, and internal organizational structures
- Demonstrating executive presence combined with deep technical credibility
- Balancing strategic vision with hands-on technical problem-solving
You will need 15+ years of relevant experience (or 10+ years with an advanced degree) with advanced product expertise in enterprise architecture and complex networking/security environments. Required technical knowledge includes TCP/IP, DNS, BGP routing, MPLS, SD-WAN, GRE, IPsec, Layer-7 firewalls, web proxies, load balancing, and data loss prevention. You must have strong familiarity with NIST Zero Trust Architecture and applicable compliance frameworks (GxP, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, CISA).
Preferred qualifications include experience architecting AI-driven threat detection and automated security analytics within Zero Trust frameworks, a coaching/mentoring mindset to elevate team capabilities, and fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese for regional customer engagement.
