Twilio is seeking a Principal Presales Engineer for the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) to join the sales team and drive technical wins for new business and strategic customer segments. This is a senior technical presales role focused on enabling customers to build communications solutions using Twilio's platform.
You will partner with Account Executives to execute the full presales cycle, including opportunity qualification, technical discovery, proof-of-concept delivery, RFP responses, architecture design, product demonstrations, and customer enablement. Your core responsibility is delivering the technical win and ensuring optimal product fit by leading technical relationships, proposing architectures, demonstrating capabilities, and building customer trust in Twilio's solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading presales activities with both C-level executives and technical engineering teams
- Conducting deep technical discovery to understand customer communications challenges
- Designing and presenting innovative technical solutions that address business problems
- Building and delivering complex, interactive product demonstrations
- Creating proof-of-concept implementations and RFP responses
- Serving as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle
- Mentoring junior presales engineers
- Contributing to the broader presales community through knowledge sharing and creating reusable demonstration materials
Required qualifications include 8+ years of presales experience selling complex technical products, or 10+ years of professional experience with technical products combined with customer-facing delivery or consulting experience. You must be an excellent communicator and presenter capable of engaging audiences at all levels, from developers to executives. Previous software development experience is required, with working knowledge in backend languages (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP), web development (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, React, Vue.js, Angular), or REST API development. Fluent German language skills are essential for this DACH-focused role.
