Cloudflare is seeking a Principal Partner Solutions Engineer based in Tokyo to serve as the technical advocate and mentor for channel partners in the Japan region. You will work closely with hosting providers, resellers, distributors, and strategic partners to foster self-sufficiency through formal training, specialized documentation, and scalable solutions.
In this role, you'll drive technical discussions and implementations that help partners generate new business, expand existing relationships, and achieve success with Cloudflare's platform. You'll be responsible for educating and enabling partners in use-case qualification, technical requirements discovery, leading demonstrations, solution design, and collaborative proof-of-concept work.
As a subject matter expert on web and mobile security and performance, you'll serve as a trusted technical resource for post-sales teams, ensuring end-customer satisfaction and success. You'll work across Cloudflare's organization—collaborating with Sales, Success, Product, Technical Support, Technical Operations, Data, and Marketing teams—to identify and create scalable solutions for partner needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the technical advocate within Cloudflare for the company's largest and most complex partners
- Mentoring partner technical teams and fostering independence
- Explaining complex technical concepts clearly to executive and technical audiences
- Driving revenue opportunities across partners' field sales organizations and end-customer base
- Attending partner meetings, industry conferences, and events (20-50% travel)
- Staying current with Cloudflare products and broader internet technology trends
You should be self-driven, naturally curious, and passionate about technology. Experience with large enterprise IT organizations, channel ecosystems, and internet application/hosting infrastructure is highly valued. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
