Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the R&D and equipment design team focused on building next-generation fusion energy equipment. In this role, you will own the end-to-end design, integration, and implementation of advanced thermal vacuum equipment and R&D machinery critical to the company's mission of delivering commercially viable fusion power plants.
You will serve as a technical expert responsible for driving innovative architectural solutions while maintaining the procedural discipline necessary for high-performance hardware development. Your work will involve solving complex thermal-mechanical problems in vacuum environments, a core competency for fusion energy systems. Beyond individual technical contributions, you will mentor and guide other engineers in a collaborative, fast-paced R&D environment.
