SoFi is seeking a Principal Fraud Strategist to own authentication and device trust strategy end-to-end across the organization. This is a sophisticated, platform-level role at the intersection of adversarial threat intelligence, device intelligence, and risk decisioning architecture.
You will design and maintain the layered defense protecting every member session at SoFi: login, password reset, MFA, step-up authentication, account recovery, and high-risk transaction moments across web and mobile platforms. You will own the device trust discipline outright, including device identification, recognition, intelligence, entity resolution, and signal development to stay ahead of account takeover (ATO), scam, and perimeter attack patterns.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning end-to-end strategy for authentication and device trust: signal architecture, decisioning topology, rule construction, threshold tuning, and loss attribution
- Architecting layered perimeter defense against ATO, scam interception (authorized push payment, remote access, impostor, investment, business email compromise), credential stuffing, MFA bombing, OTP interception, SIM swap, phishing, and bot traffic
- Managing device trust discipline: device identification, behavioral biometrics, network reputation, device-graph resolution, emulator/VM detection, jailbreak/root signals, and proxy detection
- Orchestrating the vendor stack (Transmit Security Mosaic and adjacent providers): capability assessment, integration design, data flow architecture, and performance tuning
- Designing step-up authentication and high-risk transaction decisioning that synthesizes device, behavioral, network, and credential-risk signals
- Leading 3DS, CNP, and tokenization decisioning for card-not-present transactions
- Partnering with InfoSec on threat intelligence and translating it into policy and signal development
- Setting technical standards and mentoring the broader fraud strategy organization
You will work cross-functionally with Enterprise Platform Defense, IAM, Fraud Operations, InfoSec, Product, and Data Science teams, and influence vendor roadmaps where SoFi's needs exceed market offerings. The role scales across Money, Invest, Crypto, Card, and Lending products.
