Matillion is seeking a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer to serve as the company's most senior technical field expert. This role is central to driving high-stakes customer adoptions of Maia, Matillion's AI Data Automation platform that combines 15 years of data expertise with agentic AI to automate manual data engineering work.
In this position, you will operate across all organizational levels, writing production-grade code alongside customer engineers while designing architecture with executive leadership. You'll unite Matillion's internal teams—Sales, Support, Product, and Engineering—to transform stalled accounts into reference wins. Your direct problem-solving of complex technical issues and identification of expansion opportunities will serve as the vital link driving customer adoption and revenue growth.
Beyond customer engagement, you will shape the future of Matillion's engineering practice and product offerings. As a foundational leader in the Forward Deployed Engineering function, you will establish reference architectures, set engineering standards, and build internal automation tooling alongside the DevX team. You'll mentor rising Forward Deployed Engineers and translate field insights directly into the core product roadmap to improve delivery across the business.
