Clumio (acquired by Commvault) is building a cloud-scale SaaS backup platform that delivers enterprise data protection with 10× faster recovery times and 50% lower costs than native cloud solutions. The Automation team is responsible for validating and hardening this platform across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
As Principal Engineer on the Automation team, you will own the technical vision and architecture for how the platform is tested, validated, and scaled. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you design large-scale automation frameworks, build scale-test environments, and lead adoption of modern engineering practices including agentic AI-assisted coding.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architecting the next generation of data-generation tools, scale-test environments, and REST API libraries
- Designing and implementing end-to-end integration, load, and stress tests for backup/restore across multi-cloud
- Setting and evangelizing best practices in testing, automation, and product quality across teams
- Mentoring engineers at all levels through design discussions, code reviews, and technical coaching
- Partnering with Development, Product Management, and Customer Success leadership on strategy and risk
- Driving adoption of AI agents and agentic coding to accelerate team velocity
- Influencing cross-team technical decisions and aligning implementations with broader engineering direction
The automation stack is primarily Python, interacting with AWS services (EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, Kubernetes, CloudFormation, etc.) to simulate customer environments. You'll work on a proven platform handling massive scale and reliability requirements, now expanding into multi-cloud.
Required: 8+ years designing/building automation and test frameworks for large-scale production systems; Bachelor's/Master's in CS or related field; deep Python or Go expertise; proven track record as hands-on technical leader; strong public cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP); mentoring and cross-org influence experience; working English proficiency. Valid work authorization in South Korea required; no visa sponsorship.
