TENEX.AI is an AI-native, automation-first Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider backed by leading investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Crosspoint Capital Partners, Shield Capital, and others. The company is rapidly scaling to handle petabytes of security data and billions of daily events.
As Principal DevOps Engineer, you will be a key technical leader responsible for architecting, evolving, and operating the Azure infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and Site Reliability Engineering practices. You'll own the platform architecture as it scales, including Azure governance, subscription models, network topology, and identity management. You'll lead SRE initiatives by defining Service Level Objectives and Indicators, managing on-call rotations, and driving operational excellence through advanced monitoring, observability, automated provisioning, and disaster recovery.
Key responsibilities include establishing DevSecOps practices and standardizing CI/CD pipelines; automating deployment and scaling of microservices using Docker, Kubernetes, and AKS; maintaining workload portability; optimizing application performance and cloud costs; mentoring engineering teams on Azure best practices; and collaborating with Product and Security Operations to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
You'll need 8+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering with deep hands-on Azure expertise (AKS, Entra ID, VNet design, Key Vault, Azure Policy, landing zone architecture). Required skills include microservices architecture, containerization, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep), CI/CD best practices, production software shipping in Go or Python, monitoring/observability tools, real-time data pipelines, and a proven track record building highly scalable, secure enterprise SaaS platforms. Nice-to-haves include multi-cloud experience, cybersecurity background (SIEM, EDR, MDR), large-scale data warehousing, and experience leading technical initiatives in high-growth startups.
The role is hybrid: Monday–Thursday onsite (Kansas City preferred, with San Jose or Sarasota as alternatives), Friday work-from-home. Relocation to one of these three cities is required.
