Salary: USD 120,000 - 140,000 / annual
Authentic is a Series A insurtech platform that enables insurance brokers to create and manage custom insurance programs. The company provides the technology infrastructure, compliance support, and carrier partnerships that allow brokers to build specialized insurance solutions for specific industries and customer segments.
As the first dedicated Pricing Actuary, you will report to the COO (a credentialed actuary) and own the analytical work that carrier partners, reinsurers, and internal underwriting teams rely on to write profitable business. This is a high-impact role at a critical stage of the company's growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor rate level adequacy by state and class of business; quantify indications and recommend rate changes with a recurring maintenance cadence
- Build and own claim frequency reporting as a leading indicator of business mix shift and risk selection quality
- Develop in-house loss development factors as credible historical loss data emerges and assess patterns against industry selections
- Track carrier and reinsurance market conditions in core classes, maintaining working relationships with reinsurance brokers, carrier partners, and industry contacts to inform pricing and capacity decisions
- Partner with data and engineering teams to automate recurring analyses and move away from one-off spreadsheets
- Support new program pricing, carrier submissions, reinsurance renewals, and diligence requests
You will work across multiple stakeholder groups including internal underwriting teams, carrier partners, reinsurers, brokers, and executives, requiring strong communication skills for translating technical actuarial work to non-technical audiences.
Requirements:
- ACAS credential or near-ACAS with clear path to the credential
- 4+ years of property & casualty actuarial experience in both reserving and pricing
- Commercial lines exposure strongly preferred (general liability, property, workers' compensation, auto, umbrella)
- Comfort with imperfect and incomplete data; ability to distinguish between incorrect numbers and immature data
- Strong presentation skills for technical conclusions to non-actuarial audiences
- Program business, MGA/MGU, fronting, or delegated authority experience is a meaningful plus
