Cloudflare is seeking a Presales Customer Engineer to join its GTM organization in Sydney. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor and quota-carrying technologist, owning the technical relationship with enterprise customers from initial discovery through long-term adoption and expansion.
Key responsibilities include leading technical discovery and proof-of-concept engagements across Cloudflare's portfolio (Security, Networking, Zero Trust, Developer Platforms); acting as a strategic technical advisor throughout the entire customer lifecycle; maintaining deep relationships with key stakeholders from onboarding through renewal and expansion; and carrying variable quota tied to new business acquisition and account growth. You will be commercially accountable for platform adoption, revenue retention, and identifying cross-sell and upsell opportunities based on usage data. You'll lead technical Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to translate platform capabilities into ROI for C-level executives.
The role emphasizes AI-augmented workflows to eliminate administrative toil, allowing you to focus on high-value architectural design and measurable business outcomes. You will leverage AI agents and internal platforms to automate routine tasks such as RFP responses, sandbox provisioning, and telemetry monitoring.
Minimum qualifications include 7+ years in customer-facing technical roles (Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Forward Deployed Engineer). You must have broad technical expertise spanning web security, networking (routing, DNS, DDoS mitigation), cloud infrastructure, and enterprise architecture. Required knowledge includes Internet security technologies (DDoS mitigation, firewalls, TLS, VPN, DLP); networking technologies (TCP, UDP, DNS, IPv4/IPv6, BGP routing, SD-WAN, MPLS); HTTP technologies (reverse proxy, WAF, CDN, serverless); Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA & SASE) concepts; cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure); and scripting/programming experience with JavaScript, Python, Golang, or BASH. Understanding of regulatory requirements such as IRAP and GDPR is expected.
