ICEYE is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to join the HAPS (High Altitude Platform Systems) program, contributing to the design of power subsystems for stratospheric electric aircraft. This is a hardware-focused role spanning circuit design, lab bring-up, and verification testing.
You will own defined subsystems end-to-end, from requirements definition through schematic design, hardware bring-up, verification testing, and documentation for readiness review. Day-to-day responsibilities include battery testing and characterization at cell and pack levels (capacity, impedance, cycling, safety qualification); solar array integration with electrical interface definition and validation; power electronics design including protection circuits, bus tie units with current sensing and MCU telemetry, and DC-DC converters; board-level bring-up and system integration testing under nominal and fault conditions; and production of design documentation, test reports, and requirement compliance records.
Required skills: demonstrated experience in power electronics design for battery and/or solar-powered systems with DC-DC converter topology knowledge; practical hardware bring-up and debugging experience using oscilloscopes, electronic loads, power supplies, and battery cyclers; lithium-ion battery systems expertise including characterization, safety limits, and thermal behavior; solar/photovoltaic array integration and electrical interfacing; proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools (preferably Altium Designer); embedded systems experience applied to power electronics with telemetry and microcontroller interfaces; strong technical writing for design documentation and traceability records; ability to work independently while coordinating within a small technical team.
Nice-to-have skills include aerospace or high-reliability electronics program experience, component derating and EMI/EMC design familiarity, embedded communication protocols (CAN, I2C), and power delivery network analysis.
