Reflection AI is a research lab focused on making intelligence open and accessible to everyone. As Policy Communications Lead, you will shape the public narrative around open-source AI during a critical period for the industry. You'll lead strategic communications campaigns, manage media relationships, and articulate complex AI policy issues to diverse audiences including policymakers, press, and industry leaders. Key responsibilities include: driving policy-focused media campaigns and rapid-response communications; building relationships with policy press, Hill staff, and stakeholders; partnering cross-functionally with research, legal, and policy teams; drafting accessible content (blog posts, talking points, FAQs, video scripts) that translate technical work for non-technical audiences; monitoring regulatory and geopolitical developments affecting AI policy; representing Reflection at D.C. and global policy events; and managing external communications consultants. You'll need 7+ years in strategic communications, reputation management, or public affairs, with demonstrated success on policy-focused media campaigns and technology sector experience. Strong relationships with technology, national security, and policy press are essential. You should be comfortable working alongside government affairs, legal, and technical teams on sensitive, fast-moving issues. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are critical—you must distill complex AI policy into concise pitches and one-pagers. The ideal candidate thrives in startup environments, builds playbooks rather than inheriting them, and embodies the company's values of mission-first thinking, trust through transparency, and collaborative ownership. Reflection offers competitive compensation with equity, comprehensive health benefits, unlimited PTO (US), 22 weeks paid parental leave, visa sponsorship, and regular team building. Note: This role may require access to export-controlled technology and is subject to U.S. export control compliance.
