Supabase is seeking a Platform Engineer to join the Compute Capacity team, which owns the forecasting, buffer policy, and provisioning systems that ensure Supabase's compute supply stays ahead of demand across all regions. This role focuses on building and maintaining the systems that translate capacity plans into provisioned infrastructure reality. Key responsibilities include: - Building and maintaining the capacity plan that keeps compute supply ahead of demand across regions and instance families - Modeling headroom targets and cost tradeoffs for buffer policy - Creating automation for reservation acquisition, fleet reconciliation, and drift detection between committed and running capacity - Extending infrastructure-as-code for capacity-relevant provisioning - Instrumenting capacity metrics (saturation, reservation coverage, idle buffer, forecast error, provisioning latency) - Building and tuning alerting systems so capacity issues surface months in advance rather than at crisis point - Supporting the demand gate for large customer commitments, launches, migrations, and new regions - Contributing to mitigation projects including right-sizing, instance-family migrations, autoscaling improvements, and workload consolidation - Driving down compute cost per database through optimization work - Participating in capacity incident response and post-incident analysis Ideal candidates have 5+ years in infrastructure engineering, SRE, platform, or capacity engineering at SaaS or cloud infrastructure scale. You should have production software engineering experience in modern languages (TypeScript, Python, Go), solid AWS EC2 knowledge, Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Pulumi or Terraform), and observability expertise. Financial fluency around reservation economics and the ability to communicate across technical and business stakeholders are important. Supabase is a fully remote, globally distributed company with ~400 team members across 60+ countries. The company provides ESOP equity, tech allowance, comprehensive health benefits, annual off-sites, flexible asynchronous work, and professional development budgets.
