Catawiki is a curated marketplace for special objects, auctioning over 100,000 unique items weekly and having sold 25+ million objects globally. The Platform Horizontal function has evolved to support Reliability, Developer Experience, Security, and Quality across the engineering organization.
As a Platform Engineer, you'll work at the intersection of development, infrastructure, and operations to shape and execute the long-term platform vision. Your mission is to empower Catawiki engineering teams to deliver value with speed, reliability, and security while abstracting infrastructure complexity.
Key responsibilities include:
• Build and maintain a self-service developer platform emphasizing developer experience, enabling teams to deploy, monitor, and optimize applications independently
• Orchestrate cloud-native infrastructure, managing Kubernetes clusters and cloud resources with focus on performance, scalability, and cost efficiency through FinOps practices
• Enhance CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and reusable templates to accelerate development and deployment cycles
• Drive reliability and scalability through fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and auto-scaling practices
• Improve platform observability and monitoring to proactively detect and resolve incidents
• Partner with product teams to understand needs, build impactful solutions, and champion cloud-native best practices
You bring at least 5 years of production experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure). You have hands-on expertise with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible), observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry), and CI/CD automation. You measure impact, introduce changes gradually, treat failure as learning, and enjoy sharing knowledge. Strong ownership, collaborative approach, and continuous learning in cloud-native technologies are essential.
