Writer is an enterprise generative AI platform valued at $1.9B, serving leading companies like Mars, Marriott, Uber, and Vanguard. The company is building a world-class people function and seeks a People Operations Manager to design and scale HR infrastructure as the organization grows.
In this role, you will lead all stages of the employee lifecycle—from pre-boarding through offboarding—while designing scalable processes and best practices. You'll own people team initiatives end-to-end, including company events, employee experience programs, policy rollouts, system implementations, and organizational change management. A key responsibility is identifying and implementing automation opportunities using Writer's own AI platform to streamline HR workflows and connect people tools more efficiently.
You'll administer and optimize the HRIS and people tooling stack, building operational dashboards to surface key people metrics and trends. Compliance management is central to the role: you'll maintain compliance posture across federal, state, and local employment regulations, lead internal audits, maintain accurate employee records, update the employee handbook, and develop training to keep the organization aligned with legal standards. You'll also partner with employees and legal counsel on visa processing and global mobility cases.
The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of HR, people operations, or related operational experience, ideally at a high-growth tech company. You should demonstrate a proven ability to design and implement processes from scratch, not just maintain inherited ones. Strong project management skills, systems-thinking mindset, and experience with people analytics are essential. You'll need hands-on HRIS platform experience, deep knowledge of employment law and HR compliance, and high emotional and social intelligence to navigate sensitive employee relations matters with empathy and professionalism. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR/SPHR certification and experience using AI/automation tools to improve HR workflows are valued.
