Flock is a telematics and AI-powered fleet safety company, recently acquired by Admiral (UK's leading motor insurer). The company uses real-time data to help fleet customers prevent crashes and improve driver safety, paying out millions annually to fleets that improve their safety records.
As People Operations Lead, you will own the entire people operations function, reporting to the Senior People Partner. This is a hands-on operational role managing the employee lifecycle end-to-end: contracts, right-to-work verification, onboarding/offboarding, probations, and employment changes. You'll be the primary point of contact for HR queries, managing the people inbox, HR templates, and driving resolution across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full HRIS ownership (HiBob): managing records, workflows, employee surveys, data integrity, and monthly people reporting/metrics
- End-to-end payroll administration: collating, calculating, and submitting monthly payroll including bonuses and compensation changes; managing payroll provider relationships and year-end reporting with Finance
- Benefits administration: serving as main contact for benefits providers, managing systems and data, advising employees, and keeping policies current
- Office operations: building management, health and safety (as trained First Aider and Fire Marshal), and hardware provisioning
- Company culture and events: owning the social calendar, town halls, and company rituals
- Process automation: building AI-native workflows to eliminate manual effort across the people lifecycle, coaching the business to adopt them
- IT partnership: collaborating on joiner/leaver access automation and cost/data audits
You'll need hands-on HR operations experience in a fast-moving scale-up with end-to-end process ownership and CIPD qualification or equivalent. Payroll and benefits administration experience is essential, with HiBob a plus. Strong HRIS skills (workflows, automations, integrations) and confident data/spreadsheet ability required. You should have real evidence of building with AI—shipped workflows or tools you actively use. UK employment law and compliance knowledge is necessary. You're organized, judicious, a quick learner comfortable with pace and ambiguity, and you lead through credibility and influence rather than authority.
