Cognition AI, maker of Devin (the first AI software engineer), is hiring a People Operations Lead to build and scale HR operations from the ground up. This is a foundational role at a fast-growing AI lab with world-class talent from Scale AI, Palantir, Cursor, Waymo, Tesla, Google DeepMind, and other cutting-edge companies.
You will own end-to-end People Operations infrastructure, designing scalable systems and processes that support rapid growth. Key responsibilities include: building and maintaining HR technology, data workflows, and integrations; designing operational playbooks, checklists, and documentation to prevent gaps; leading benefits administration across US and international markets, partnering with brokers, vendors, payroll, and Finance; developing compliance infrastructure for a multi-state and international workforce; creating and evolving employee policies and handbook; bringing operational rigor to People decisions by surfacing risks and dependencies; partnering cross-functionally with Payroll, Finance, Legal, IT, Recruiting, and external vendors; using data and insights to identify issues and improve programs proactively; and jumping into high-priority projects as needed in a lean, rapidly evolving environment.
You'll own immigration programs end-to-end and help solve hard problems that directly impact employees' lives. This role offers rare early scope to build systems that become how the company operates at scale.
Required: 7+ years in People Operations or HR at fast-growing startups or tech companies; strong end-to-end People Ops experience across benefits, immigration, compliance, systems, and employee operations; comfort in high-velocity environments where priorities shift and processes are still being built; first-principles thinking and can-do attitude to break down ambiguous problems; strong data-driven, analytical, and program management skills.
