Sesame is building a new kind of computer focused on voice agents, with a team of founders from Oculus and Ubiquity6 alongside leaders from Meta, Google, and Apple. They're seeking a People Lead to build and scale the People function during a critical growth phase. In this highly hands-on leadership role, you'll own the complete People strategy and operations. You'll build a strong People team and infrastructure to support significant growth while maintaining Sesame's culture of high talent density, strong ownership, and fast decision-making. Key responsibilities include: - Developing and executing People strategy, building the team, and establishing HR systems, payroll, benefits, immigration, onboarding, policies, compliance, and employee relations infrastructure. - Partnering with leadership on organizational design, team structure, succession planning, and critical people decisions as the company evolves. - Creating practical approaches to goal-setting, feedback, performance management, and development that help managers lead effectively. - Owning compensation philosophy, leveling, salary ranges, equity practices, and benefits in partnership with leadership. - Translating company values into everyday experience through hiring, onboarding, communication, recognition, and accountability. - Serving as a trusted advisor to founders and senior leaders on complex people and organizational decisions, bringing sound judgment and candor. You'll need 8+ years of progressive People leadership experience across People Operations, HRBP, and organizational development, with proven success building and scaling People functions in fast-moving tech companies during periods of significant growth. Deep expertise in organization design, performance management, compensation, employee relations, and U.S. employment practices is essential. You should have strong business judgment, a builder's mindset, and the ability to operate at both strategic altitude and tactical detail. Genuine curiosity about AI and how it will transform People operations is important. The role requires four days per week in the San Francisco office with high in-person engagement.
