Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will lead People & Culture operations across the ANZ (Australia and New Zealand) region. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-moving business where you'll build, test, and improve continuously without lengthy planning cycles.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead and coach the P&C Partners team, setting clear priorities and ensuring high-quality work supporting client groups across the region
• Own the ANZ people calendar including performance reviews, salary reviews, engagement initiatives, onboarding, offboarding, and reward/recognition programs
• Serve as the senior escalation point for complex employee relations matters—performance issues, misconduct, grievances, and restructures—ensuring fair, legally sound, and well-documented decisions
• Maintain ANZ policies, procedures, and process documentation in compliance with Australian and New Zealand employment law
• Develop a clear view of talent performance and potential across ANZ, manage succession planning for critical roles, and ensure agreed actions are executed
• Own ANZ people reporting and analytics (headcount, attrition, hiring, ER trends) and translate data into actionable insights
You'll work in a people-first company committed to supporting lawyers who help people. The role offers flexible and hybrid working arrangements, with a preference for Sydney-based candidates but openness to flexible arrangements.
Requirements:
• Proven experience leading and growing a People & Culture function, region, or significant part of one, with demonstrated team leadership of People professionals
• Pragmatic, action-oriented mindset—preference for building, testing, and improving over extended planning; ability to act without waiting to be asked while maintaining quality
• Strong coaching and people development skills; ability to build capability in others and lead with both care and accountability
• Deep knowledge of Australian employment law and complex employee relations; exposure to or appetite to quickly build New Zealand employment law expertise
• Ability to advise leaders with sound, consistent guidance grounded in business realities; comfort knowing when to escalate to external experts
• Strong process design and documentation skills; attention to detail and quality assurance
• Data-driven mindset; ability to use analytics to prioritize, tell compelling stories, and drive better decisions
