Jobber is a SaaS platform helping small home service businesses (plumbers, painters, landscapers) manage quoting, scheduling, invoicing, and payments. The People Business Partner is an intermediate-level individual contributor role embedded within a business unit, reporting to the Senior Manager, People. This is a hands-on position balancing strategic HR advisory with operational execution. Key responsibilities include: - Develop a people agenda aligned with the business unit's strategy, addressing capability gaps, engagement, retention, and succession planning - Advise senior leaders and managers on performance management, compensation, team structure, and organizational change - Coach first-time and early-tenure managers through people leadership challenges - Own the full employee lifecycle: performance management, leaves, accommodations, returns to work, internal mobility, and exits - Manage employee relations independently, including sensitive and legally complex cases - Run performance cycles end-to-end: expectations, documentation, improvement plans, and difficult conversations - Assess organizational structures and spans of control; identify people vs. design problems - Track leading indicators on engagement, performance, and retention; drive action plans - Use AI to augment work—delegate research and drafting to agents, analyze group data for leadership insights - Identify process gaps and propose solutions to reduce manual escalations - Collaborate cross-functionally with Talent Development, Total Rewards, and Talent Acquisition The role requires working at two altitudes: strategic diagnosis and advice at the senior level, plus hands-on execution (documentation, leave administration, case management). You work independently on decisions that matter and bring recommendations rather than questions to leaders. The position offers a balance of strategy and execution for someone seeking both.
