Thoropass is a compliance and audit platform that combines automation software with tech-enabled audit services and penetration testing. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in New York, the company has raised $97M from top-tier investors including J.P. Morgan, PayPal Ventures, and Bain Capital. Thoropass operates globally across 18+ countries and serves thousands of customers seeking SOC, PCI, ISO, HITRUST, and HIPAA compliance solutions.
You will lead and mentor a sub-team of 4–5 penetration testers as a player-coach manager. This is a hands-on role where you conduct pentests yourself while providing technical guidance, mentorship, and people leadership to your team. You'll ensure all engagements are delivered on time, within scope, and meet Thoropass quality standards.
Key responsibilities include: leading technical reviews and 1:1 coaching sessions; collaborating with peer Pentest Managers to align methodologies and standardize delivery; conducting web, network, and application penetration tests; and partnering with leadership to improve operations and team morale.
Thoropass pentesters work with AI-augmented tooling where AI handles reconnaissance, enumeration, payload generation, and evidence formatting, while testers drive strategy, validate exploitability, and own final deliverables. As manager, you'll review how team members direct AI effectively, catch errors, and push past limitations—not traditional low-level technical details.
You thrive in fast-paced environments where processes are evolving, set high standards by example, and combine strong technical expertise with genuine people leadership skills. You're comfortable switching between hands-on pentesting and team management, and you enjoy developing others while staying technically sharp.
