Coder is seeking a Payroll Analyst to support accurate, timely payroll operations as the company scales across multiple states and countries. This role sits within the Finance & Accounting function and works closely with the Senior Payroll Specialist, Accounting, People, and cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Process semi-monthly and weekly payroll in Rippling, handling new hires, terminations, pay changes, off-cycle payments, garnishments, and retroactive adjustments
- Reconcile payroll registers against HRIS and benefits data before submission
- Resolve discrepancies between payroll and financial data to support accurate month-end and year-end reporting
- Coordinate with People team on employee changes, compensation updates, and benefits deductions
- Support multi-state tax withholding setup and registrations as Coder expands
- Maintain audit trails of process changes, including rate changes and new state/country registrations
- Manage year-end payroll processes including W-2s, W-2c corrections, and ACA reporting
- Leverage AI tools to automate workflows and improve processes
- Maintain payroll systems (Rippling, Deel) and ensure accurate data flows to Accounting
- Respond to payroll tax notices, unemployment claims, and audit requests
- Document and improve payroll SOPs and controls
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2–3 years of payroll experience, ideally with multi-state and/or international exposure
- Working knowledge of core payroll tax concepts (FICA, FUTA/SUTA)
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups) and/or Google Sheets
- Strong reconciliation skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Sound judgment handling confidential compensation and personal data
Bonus experience includes direct use of Rippling and/or Deel, VBA/Apps Script, high-growth SaaS environments, and international payroll processing.
