GovWell is an AI-powered operating system transforming how local governments serve communities. Founded in 2023, the company has raised $35M and powers 5,000+ mission-critical processes across 35+ states, helping municipalities streamline permitting, licensing, and public services while reducing processing time by up to 95%.
As Narrative and Content Lead, you will own GovWell's editorial strategy and content function end-to-end. You'll set the editorial calendar and publishing cadence across blog, social, email, and other channels, optimizing for SEO and AI discoverability. Your responsibilities include writing and publishing compelling content in multiple formats—thought leadership pieces, original data reports, gated guides, product stories, and trend analysis on government modernization.
You'll build and manage GovWell's social presence, ghostwrite for founders to develop distinct voices, and establish a consistent publishing rhythm that grows audience engagement. A key part of the role is building the customer story engine: sourcing, producing, and publishing case studies and customer videos in partnership with Sales and Deployment teams.
You'll set a high editorial bar, continuously experiment with new formats and creative approaches, and measure content performance to drive pipeline, influence deals, strengthen brand, and engage existing customers. The role requires taking ideas from research and writing through distribution, SEO optimization, and analytics.
You'll work closely with the Head of Marketing, founders, and the broader marketing team. GovWell operates a hybrid culture with 3+ days per week in-person at the New York City office, with flexibility for remote work.
Ideal candidates have 1–3+ years in content marketing, journalism, editorial, or related roles with a published portfolio. You're an exceptional writer who can translate technical, bureaucratic, or complex topics into clear, compelling narratives with distinct point of view. You're creative, curious, and have strong editorial taste. You understand how content drives revenue and can work end-to-end from ideation through performance analysis. You're comfortable with AI tools to accelerate research and execution while maintaining originality and quality.
