The company has over $1 billion in signed contracts across commercial and US government customers and is mass-producing advanced satellite platforms for missions from low Earth orbit to deep space. As a Mission Engineer within National Security Programs, you will serve as the primary technical interface between K2 Space, customers, and partners while developing and shaping mission architectures for future opportunities to host advanced payload capabilities onto K2's satellite bus platform. You will support mission-level engineering across early technical engagement, requirements formulation and negotiation, concept and architecture studies, payload-to-bus compatibility analysis, proposal-phase activities, and program execution. Key responsibilities include defining, maturing, and negotiating mission concepts; supporting initial payload integration studies, mission analysis, system architecture trades, and system integration designs; developing and maintaining technical documentation for system architecture, payload interface designs, spacecraft design capabilities, and concepts of operations; serving as the primary technical interface for early customer engagement and leading technical discussions; and coordinating cross-functional early study efforts with vehicle engineering, avionics, software, propulsion, thermal, and AI&T teams. You will work closely with Program Managers and key engineering disciplines to define and architect missions across mechanical, software, power, avionics, and other domains, ensuring alignment with K2 Space's technology and capabilities. You will represent K2 Space in critical customer engagements, study reviews, and technical negotiations with National Security customers and stakeholders. The ideal candidate possesses strong multi-disciplinary engineering skills, hands-on experience with satellite or aerospace systems, and excellent communication abilities to effectively collaborate with government and defense customers.
