Arca is a Series A fintech company ($64M raised, backed by General Catalyst, Index Ventures, Venrock) rebuilding wealth management from the ground up with AI. The company operates as an actual wealth management business—not SaaS—with a platform that augments financial advisors by automating low-leverage work and maintaining living client context. Arca has acquired firms managing over $1B in assets and is scaling through additional acquisitions.
As a Member of Technical Staff focused on Platform, you will own the foundational infrastructure and backend systems that enable the entire product. You are responsible for the systems that agents (non-human users) rely on as primary users, operating at scale across every client continuously. This role demands unusual focus on reliability, cost, and performance as core product attributes.
Key ownership areas include:
- Core infrastructure and backend systems: services, data stores, and APIs designed for agent-heavy workloads, enabling the 8-person engineering team to ship without friction.
- Safe agent execution: building sandboxes where agents write and run code safely, with versioned SDKs, scoped permissions, rate limits, and isolation controls.
- Developer experience and internal tooling: build, test, deploy, and observability systems that maximize shipping velocity for a small, high-leverage team.
- Performance and cost optimization: ensuring agents operate fast and correctly under real load while maintaining sane infrastructure spend across multiple acquisitions.
You will work on concrete problems including: agent code sandboxes with safe backend access, cloud agents that triage and fix bugs autonomously, infrastructure for rapid M&A onboarding (integrating legacy CRMs, custodian systems, and IT stacks), deep portfolio data querying for agent reasoning, and scaling the backend foundation across four to five acquisitions planned this year.
Arca is a 12-person team based in Flatiron, NYC, with 8 engineers from high-growth companies (Stripe, Ramp, Rippling, Plaid, Doordash, Glean). The company operates fully in-office, five days a week.
