Plug is a marketplace for used electric vehicles, founded in 2023 by former Tesla executives. The company has facilitated $150M in EV sales and raised a $20M Series A led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Plug operates an AI-native platform built exclusively for EVs, connecting consumers seeking instant cash offers (backed by battery-health data) with dealers who bid in real time on inventory.
As a Marketplace Operations Specialist, you will be a core member of the Operations team responsible for keeping the marketplace running smoothly across the entire vehicle lifecycle—from intake through payment, delivery, and closeout. You'll report to the Sr. Director, Marketplace Operations.
Your responsibilities will span three interconnected areas:
**Core Workflows & Execution:**
- Engage directly with consumers to resolve issues and keep transactions moving
- Build vehicle listings that prepare vehicles for auction quickly and accurately
- Support dealers through checkout and transaction issues to ensure deals close smoothly
- Issue gate passes, dispatch transport, and manage post-sale logistics through delivery
- Maintain relationships with major EV OEMs on intake, listing, and delivery processes
**Cross-Functional Flexibility:**
- Rotate across every function to understand where you're needed most
- Master the full transaction lifecycle to troubleshoot issues across any area
- Cover for teammates during time off or volume spikes without degrading service
**Strategic Initiatives:**
- Identify process gaps across the transaction lifecycle and implement improvements to increase team efficiency
- Build dashboards in Metabase to provide business visibility into performance metrics and support data-driven decision-making
- Partner cross-functionally to drive projects that improve core metrics: inventory turn time and cash conversion
This role pairs hands-on execution with real strategic ownership. You'll work directly with operators who have scaled multi-billion-dollar businesses in automotive, EV, and marketplaces, and you'll have high autonomy with a direct line to company outcomes.
**Requirements:**
- 5+ years in operations or strategy, ideally in a high-growth or startup environment
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- Cross-functional collaboration experience driving alignment across Sales, Operations, Finance, and Product
- Strong communication skills, comfortable engaging directly with consumers and dealers to resolve issues
- Familiarity with workflow automation tools that scale without adding headcount
- Bias toward improving processes, not just executing existing workflows
- Preference for candidates with experience leveraging AI tools for triage, response assistance, or operational reporting
