As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will serve as the critical bridge between R&D and production at ARX Robotics, a mission-driven European defense tech company. Your core responsibility is translating engineering designs into manufacturable, documented, and scalable production-ready systems.
Key responsibilities include owning New Product Introduction (NPI) processes from prototype through series readiness, maintaining comprehensive production documentation (assembly instructions, manufacturing Bills of Materials, work instructions, tooling lists), and defining manufacturing processes including process flows and cycle time estimates. You will actively participate in Design for Assembly/Design for Manufacturability (DFA/DFM) reviews, providing structured feedback from a production perspective and assessing producibility, inspectability, and assembly risks early in the design cycle.
You will channel feedback from production back into R&D, ensuring design decisions are grounded in manufacturing reality. Additional responsibilities include planning and executing pilot runs and zero-series builds, owning the Golden Sample approval process with traceability, coordinating First Article Inspection (FAI) where applicable, and supporting development and qualification of tooling, fixtures, and test equipment.
You will conduct initial training of production staff on new products and engineering changes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives identifying bottlenecks and reducing rework rates. This role requires hands-on engagement, precision, documentation discipline, and strong cross-functional communication.
Required qualifications include completed vocational training in a relevant technical field, ideally followed by state-certified technician qualification or a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechatronics. You need several years of hands-on production or manufacturing experience with direct exposure to product development and engineering collaboration, proven NPI experience including zero-series and prototype builds, and strong understanding of assembly processes and production documentation standards.
You should be confident in DFA/DFM analyses, familiar with quality methodologies (PFMEA, control plans, FAI), able to read engineering drawings and CAD models, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, and fluent in English (German is a plus).
