Salary: USD 100,000 - 115,000 / annual

Vox Media is seeking an experienced Manager, Workplace to lead day-to-day operations of the New York City headquarters office. This hands-on operational role focuses on creating a well-run, responsive, and thoughtfully maintained workplace that supports how teams work and collaborate. You will oversee daily workplace operations, ensuring the office is well-maintained, functional, and supports a productive employee experience. You'll manage a small team of full-time, temporary, and contract staff, including scheduling, approving timesheets, and providing day-to-day direction. As the operational owner of the New York workplace, you'll bring together employees, vendors, building management, and internal partners to ensure smooth daily operations. Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining clear workplace processes, documentation, and operating standards; owning operational management of workplace budgets, purchase orders, invoices, and vendor payments; serving as the primary point of contact for building management; ensuring workplace safety and compliance through regular on-the-ground checks; and acting as a coordination point during workplace-related incidents or crises. You'll support space planning and workplace requests from stakeholders, manage relationships with workplace vendors and service providers, and lead workplace projects such as office moves, space reconfigurations, and operational improvements. You'll also support day-to-day operations of the Washington, DC office through remote coordination with local partners and vendors, and partner with business leaders to plan workspace needs while balancing employee experience, operational requirements, and efficient space use. REQUIREMENTS: - Experience managing people, including direct reports and/or contract staff, with a focus on clear communication and accountability - Experience managing workplace operations in a headquarters or multi-site office environment preferred - Strong operational and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and workflows simultaneously - Experience managing budgets, invoices, and vendor relationships in a professional setting - Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate needs and resolve issues quickly - Comfort working cross-functionally and managing requests from a wide range of stakeholders - Strong judgment and discretion, particularly in situations involving safety, compliance, or sensitive workplace issues - Experience working in office operations, workplace management, facilities, or a related field - Comfort learning and adopting new technologies, including AI tools, to improve operational efficiency and team workflows
