Wolt (owned by DoorDash) is seeking an experienced Manager, Tax Technology to lead VAT tax platform projects for Wolt and Deliveroo. This role owns functional tax leadership for the migration to a unified global tax platform and Vertex tax calculation engine, translating business and VAT requirements into configured, tested, live capabilities.
You will report to the Senior Manager of Tax Calculation Platform & Mx Operations and manage a team delivering day-to-day VAT configuration and testing. Key responsibilities include:
• Lead end-to-end delivery of VAT tax solutions across Wolt and Deliveroo platforms, including new product launches, market expansions, partnership launches, and legislative changes
• Gather business and VAT requirements and translate them into tax-system functional requirements for configuration and testing
• Review Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), and Technical Design Documents (TDDs) to provide functional tax expertise to Tax Engineering
• Define and oversee testing requirements across unit, integration, end-to-end, shadow, and post-launch phases
• Align tax engine priorities with Wolt and Deliveroo international market roadmaps; represent tax platform status to leadership
• Trace VAT-relevant data flows from upstream systems through Vertex to downstream reporting and compliance
• Serve as senior functional tax leader for Wolt and Deliveroo, escalating risks and driving cross-functional alignment across Tax, Product, Engineering, and Data teams
• Manage and develop an offshore team, allocating workload, establishing QA checkpoints, and providing knowledge transfer on complex processes
You will work closely with Tax Engineering, Wolt and Deliveroo Tax teams, Tax Product, and other stakeholders. Rather than handing off requirements, you will apply hands-on Vertex knowledge to influence functional design and determine specific configurations. The role requires understanding how data flows from upstream systems through the tax engine to downstream reporting.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 8+ years of indirect tax or indirect tax technology experience, with several years working directly in VAT regimes
• Familiar with VAT tax requirements and ability to translate them into system requirements
• Hands-on experience implementing or configuring Vertex O Series; ability to review Vertex configurations and testing documentation
• Hands-on experience implementing or configuring ERP tax integration (e.g., NetSuite) with Vertex tax engine
• Experience with multi-country VAT implementations and EU VAT compliance; familiarity with non-US indirect tax regimes
• Demonstrated people-leadership experience including managing, coaching, workload delegation, and quality oversight
• Ability to review technical design documents and provide functional tax expertise to engineering and product
• Familiarity with US sales and use tax, food and beverage, and retail tax context
• Understanding of how tax data flows from upstream transaction systems through a tax engine to downstream reporting
• Program or project management experience across dependent teams, including building plans, milestones, and dependency maps
• Comfort operating cross-functionally and building trust with partner teams without formal authority over their roadmaps
• Experience with SQL or Snowflake for data self-serve, issue investigation, or testing validation
• Experience with API testing tools like Postman, SOAP UI; ability to read XML and JSON logs
• Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or Computer Science degree
• Fluent in leveraging multiple AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor) on a daily basis and actively applying them to enhance processes
NICE TO HAVES:
• Familiarity with Marketplace Facilitator laws
• Experience managing offshore teams across time zones
