GitLab is seeking a Manager of Solutions Architecture to lead a distributed team of intermediate and senior Solutions Architects serving Enterprise customers in the East sales territory. In this role, you will manage a high-performing team of technical pre-sales professionals who act as trusted advisors to GitLab prospects and customers, helping them validate GitLab's Enterprise Edition and supporting successful adoption across the software development lifecycle. You will be responsible for hiring, coaching, and retaining your team while setting clear expectations and holding them accountable for complex technical evaluations, business outcome articulation, and cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing. You'll model Solutions Architecture work yourself—from solution design through technical presentations—ensuring your team is equipped to drive meaningful customer change. Key responsibilities include leading your distributed team, coaching and developing team members through feedback and career support, growing and retaining talent through thoughtful hiring and inclusive culture-building, engaging directly in key customer opportunities as a Solutions Architect, driving quality and consistency of technical evaluations and proofs of concept, collaborating with regional sales managers on territory strategy and account planning, partnering with Product and Engineering to share field insights and influence roadmap priorities, and owning team execution through KPI definition and clear communication of progress and risks. You should bring experience mentoring and developing technical team members, managing or leading technical pre-sales or IT professionals in enterprise environments, and collaborating effectively across functions on sales and go-to-market strategies. Strong technical presentation and communication skills are essential, along with deep knowledge of the end-to-end software development lifecycle, CI/CD concepts, and cloud computing. Willingness to travel as needed and openness to learning GitLab tools are expected.
