OpenGov is seeking a Manager of Sales Development to lead a team of 12-15 SDRs in Chicago. This is a player-coach role focused on building and developing sales talent while driving quota attainment across Mid-Market, Enterprise, and Strategic customer segments.
You will own all aspects of SDR team leadership: coaching reps to hit individual and team quotas, running weekly 1:1s and call reviews, monitoring performance metrics, and building a culture of continuous learning. The role emphasizes people development—OpenGov promotes 75% of its SDR team internally, and your job is to prepare reps for advancement into AE, CSM, SE, and leadership roles.
Key responsibilities include leading weekly cadences and standups, partnering cross-functionally with Marketing, Demand Gen, and regional sales leaders to refine prospecting strategies, owning hiring and onboarding decisions, and working with the Sr. Director of Sales Development to scale processes and culture. You'll be expected to stay hands-on with call reviews using Gong and maintain fluency in Salesforce.
OpenGov is the market leader in AI and ERP solutions for local and state governments, serving 2,000+ cities, counties, state agencies, school districts, and special districts. The company offers category-leading products in enterprise asset management, procurement, accounting, budgeting, billing, permitting, and transparency. The mission is tangible: roughly 1 in 3 Americans is touched by an OpenGov customer.
The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of quota-carrying sales or business development experience, preferably in SaaS or tech, with prior SDR/BDR or team lead experience. You should have a proven track record of coaching, mentoring, and developing reps who have been promoted or turned around. GovTech or public-sector SaaS background is a plus but not required. A bachelor's degree is preferred.
