Cloudflare is seeking a Manager of Customer Engineering for its Sydney office. In this hybrid role, you will lead and develop a team of customer engineers who provide presales technical expertise and solutions consulting to prospects and customers.
As a player-coach manager, you will balance hands-on technical contribution with team leadership. Your responsibilities include coaching and mentoring team members, ensuring equitable workload distribution, providing constructive feedback, and stepping into customer engagements when needed to lead by example. You will work closely with prospects and customers, shadowing your team to improve technical delivery and identify escalation issues quickly.
You will partner with sales leadership to drive revenue targets and work across the organization—including Sales, Product, Engineering, Customer Support, and Customer Success—to create scalable solutions for customer needs. Key inter-team goals include fostering cross-office coordination, facilitating knowledge transfer, developing relationships across the organization for escalation support, and maintaining strong communication with Account Executives and Customer Success leads.
Intra-team responsibilities focus on understanding team dynamics, identifying individual strengths and development areas, cultivating positive culture, and ensuring team members feel supported and engaged.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of management experience in presales teams, with demonstrable expertise in technical leadership, team coaching, escalation management, and driving results (PoC close rates, sales quota achievement). You should have a strong appreciation of the ANZ market, genuine curiosity about technology, and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly. A background in solutions consulting, engineering, software development, product management, customer support, or project delivery is valued.
