Cardless is a Series C fintech that enables major brands (Coinbase, Bilt Rewards, Alibaba, Qatar Airways, LATAM Airlines) to build and operate credit card programs within their ecosystems. The company has raised $170M+ in funding and is scaling toward profitability.
As Manager of Partner Growth, you will own the full portfolio of live brand partners and serve as the primary point of contact for accounts like Coinbase and Bilt. You are responsible for the health of each relationship, the performance of their card program, and identifying expansion opportunities. You will act as the internal quarterback, triaging issues across product, support, and operations to ensure partners receive fast, accurate answers. This role reports directly to the Chief Business Officer.
Key responsibilities include:
**Own the Partner Relationship**
- Serve as primary point of contact for all partners in your portfolio, building trust that outlasts individual transactions
- Understand each partner's business deeply—their goals, internal dynamics, and definition of success
- Build relationships with both day-to-day operators and executives at each partner
- Represent Cardless internally as the voice of the partner, ensuring product and leadership understand actual account needs
**Grow the Value of Existing Programs**
- Track program performance metrics (activation, spend, retention) and identify which levers move those numbers
- Identify and pitch expansion opportunities—new features, segments, use cases—proactively
- Provide data-driven perspective on how each partner's program compares to portfolio benchmarks
- Collaborate with product and business teams to ensure roadmap priorities reflect what will move the needle for live partners
**Triage and Resolve Issues**
- Own issue resolution end-to-end, from outages to compliance questions to partner complaints
- Build internal relationships and judgment to quickly mobilize the right teams (product, support, engineering, compliance)
- Distinguish urgent issues from day-to-day friction
- Close the loop with partners transparently on what happened, what Cardless is doing, and what to expect
**Establish Partner Growth Processes**
- Run regular business reviews grounded in performance data and clear strategic perspective
- Maintain an honest, current view of account health across the portfolio, flagging risk early
- Maintain systems (CRM, account plans, escalation logs) that make account management repeatable and scalable
- Provide regular reporting to leadership on portfolio health, growth opportunities, and upstream operational issues
You will be evaluated on portfolio retention, speed and quality of issue resolution, and growth generated within existing accounts. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role with a clear mandate: keep every partner healthy, resolve issues before they escalate, and grow account value over time.
**Requirements**
- 5–10 years in business development, partnerships, sales, or account management with meaningful exposure to financial services (ideally banking, card issuance, or payment networks)
- Demonstrated track record of cultivating and growing major enterprise partnerships by adding new milestones, processes, and revenue
- Working knowledge of payments: schemes, payments risk, fraud, and payments fundamentals
- Relationship stewardship: ability to deepen partnerships over years and earn trust through consistent delivery
- Financial services fluency: understanding of card program economics, players, contract structures, and regulatory context; ability to have credible conversations with partner finance/operations leadership
- Operational discipline: clean portfolio management with clear visibility into account health, risk, and next steps
- Communication and presence: effective with senior partner executives; comfortable delivering hard news and running polished business reviews; strong writing skills
- Cross-functional orchestration: knowledge of Cardless internal structure and ability to mobilize teams quickly
- Judgment and autonomy: ability to prioritize across a diverse portfolio without activity-level management
This role is in-office 5 days per week in San Francisco. Not a fit if you want to focus on new business sales, lack meaningful financial services experience, or require remote/hybrid arrangements.
