Plug is a marketplace for used electric vehicles, founded in 2023 by former Tesla executives. The company has facilitated $150M in EV sales and raised a $20M Series A led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Consumers receive instant cash offers backed by battery-health data, while dealers across the US bid in real time on inventory. As Manager of Marketplace Operations, you will lead and scale the operations function that owns every vehicle's journey through the marketplace end-to-end, from commercial intake and listing through payment, title, and delivery. You will manage a lean, data-informed team across Title, Payments, Listings, Logistics, and Commercial functions, acting as both leader and individual contributor (player-coach). Your core responsibilities include: **Day-to-Day Operations:** Own the daily operating rhythm to ensure every deal closes cleanly, every dollar reconciles, and every vehicle moves on time. Serve as the escalation point for stuck deals, missed pickups, title rejections, and payment exceptions, using data and AI tools to spot issues early and clear blockers before they impact customers or leadership. **Team Leadership & Development:** Directly manage function owners across the five core areas. Set clear goals, conduct 1:1s, and provide feedback to help each person grow into a true owner of their area. Build a team culture where AI is the default starting point, coaching each owner to automate repetitive work and focus on judgment calls and exceptions. Write onboarding playbooks and SOPs with AI tools built into workflows. **Marketplace Performance:** Drive core metrics including title turnaround and rejection rate, days to pay/collect and payment accuracy, pickup SLA, on-time delivery, and inventory turn time. Ensure vehicles are listed on auction accurately and efficiently with complete, high-quality listings that go live on time. Work with Product and Engineering to identify, build, and launch AI and automation across the transaction (reconciliation, DMV paperwork, dispatch, listing QC). Partner cross-functionally with Finance, CX, and Program Management to surface trends, find root causes, and ship fixes. You will coordinate handoffs between functions so the transaction moves as one automated flow rather than separate queues. As transaction volume grows, you'll scale the operation while increasing speed and accuracy and lowering cost per vehicle. **Requirements:** - 7+ years in operations, including experience scaling marketplace operations through rapid growth, ideally at a high-growth startup where you built processes that held up as volume multiplied - Player-coach mindset; comfortable leading from the front and doing the work yourself when the team needs it - Hands-on experience using AI tools and automation to scale operations, not just headcount - Strong command of operational metrics with a track record of improving turn time, speed, and accuracy - Process builder who writes SOPs, finds bottlenecks, and fixes root causes instead of patching symptoms
