Airwallex is a unified payments and financial platform serving over 250,000 global businesses. The Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team operates as the independent second line of defense, owning the global AML/CTF program, sanctions framework, and risk assessment methodology across all entities.
As Manager of FCC Monitoring & Testing for ANZ, you will lead the design and execution of Airwallex's financial crime compliance monitoring and testing framework. You will independently validate the design and operating effectiveness of AML, Sanctions, and KYC/KYB controls across production environments, establish monitoring frameworks and KPIs, and drive data-enabled assurance methodologies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and evolve the Global FCC Monitoring & Testing Programme with robust, risk-based testing methodologies and annual plans
- Design comprehensive testing frameworks validating compliance controls across customer onboarding, periodic reviews, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and regulatory reporting
- Oversee the ANZ FCC monitoring program, establishing KPIs and operating effectiveness metrics
- Transition from traditional sample reviews to continuous, data-enabled assurance using analytics and automated testing
- Validate system-encoded controls including transaction monitoring thresholds, screening logic, and risk-rating models
- Translate testing outcomes into clear reporting for executive leadership and governance forums
- Represent FCC during regulatory examinations, audits, and banking partner reviews
You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and regional leadership to turn testing insights into operational accountability and a defensible compliance posture.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Law, Information Systems, or related quantitative discipline; CAMS certification or ICA International Diploma in Governance, Risk, and Compliance; 7+ years in FCC quality assurance, compliance monitoring, internal audit, or related second/third-line control function in fintech, payments, or regulated banking; strong technical knowledge of financial crime controls; proven mastery of risk-based methodologies.
