Chainguard is seeking a Manager of Sales Engineering to lead the enterprise public sector sales engineering practice across the Southeast and DC regions. You will manage and mentor a team of sales engineers, drive hiring and staffing to support enterprise growth, and partner with regional sales leadership to develop technical sales strategies and account plans.
Key responsibilities include: leading a sales engineering team with guidance, mentorship, and professional development; hiring and staffing sales engineers; setting performance goals and conducting evaluations; collaborating with sales teams to identify customer requirements and provide technical expertise; staying current with industry trends and competitive products; providing feedback to product management on customer needs; creating technical sales collateral (presentations, datasheets, whitepapers); tracking KPIs including tech wins/losses, POV time to close, and ARR; identifying improvement areas and implementing corrective actions; and monitoring expenses against budget.
You'll work with Fortune 500 enterprises and global leaders including Anduril, Canva, Fortinet, HPE, OpenAI, Snap, and Snowflake. Chainguard delivers hardened, secure, production-ready builds of open source software, helping organizations build faster, stay compliant, and eliminate supply-chain risk.
The ideal candidate has 4+ years of sales engineering leadership experience in enterprise accounts and 8+ years as a sales engineer supporting enterprise clients. Required technical expertise includes container technologies (Kubernetes, Serverless, Docker), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google), and cloud/container security. Experience with MEDDPICC and Command of the Message sales frameworks is expected. You should be a trusted advisor who builds credibility with customers, a strong team player committed to mentoring peers, and located in the US Southeast or DC region.
