Salary: USD 134,000 - 145,000 / annual
Mineralys Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing medicines to treat hypertension and related conditions such as chronic kidney disease, obstructive sleep apnea, and aldosterone-driven diseases. The company is fully remote.
The Manager, Commercial Accounting will oversee all accounting activities related to product revenue, gross-to-net reserves, accounts receivable, inventory, and cost of goods sold. This role partners closely with Trade & Distribution, Market Access, CMC, and third-party partners to ensure accurate financial reporting and support commercialization efforts. The manager will identify and drive process improvements across the commercial accounting function.
Key responsibilities include:
**Revenue Accounting & Month-End Close:** Manage the monthly close process for product revenue, gross-to-net reserves, and accounts receivable. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Ensure revenue recognition complies with ASC 606 and maintain accurate documentation.
**Inventory & Cost Accounting:** Oversee monthly close activities for inventory and cost of goods sold. Manage inventory valuation, reserves, and reconciliations. Review inventory reports from third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and ensure accurate transaction recording. Monitor inventory movements, adjustments, write-offs, and product returns. Partner with Trade, Distribution, and CMC teams to investigate discrepancies and support physical inventory counts.
**Gross-to-Net Accounting:** Prepare and maintain gross-to-net reserve calculations including rebates, chargebacks, returns, prompt pay discounts, distribution service fees, and copay assistance programs. Collaborate with Market Access and Commercial teams on reserve methodologies and perform periodic actual-to-estimate analyses.
**Accounts Receivable & Order-to-Cash:** Serve as primary accounting liaison with 3PLs, distributors, and commercial partners. Oversee third-party managed order-to-cash activities including sales, invoicing, collections, cash applications, and dispute resolution. Ensure timely AR reconciliation and review customer balances, aging reports, and collection activities.
**Commercial and Launch Support:** Partner with Market Access, CMC, and Trade & Distribution to support commercialization initiatives and product launches. Assist in designing and implementing processes and controls for new distribution channels and customer programs. Support contract reviews and assess accounting implications.
**Financial Reporting & Compliance:** Prepare schedules and analyses for quarterly and annual financial reporting. Assist with external audits and regulatory reporting. Develop and maintain policies and procedures. Support SOX compliance efforts including control execution and documentation.
**Process Improvement & Systems:** Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, reporting, and data analytics. Participate in ERP implementation and system enhancement projects.
**Leadership & People Management:** Manage, mentor, and develop team members while fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
This position requires up to 10% travel, frequently outside the local area with overnight stays.
**Requirements:**
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including commercial accounting in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition, gross-to-net, inventory, and cost of goods sold accounting
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical order-to-cash processes and related accounting activities including accounts receivable, deductions, and customer reconciliations
- Experience supporting inventory accounting in a commercial-stage biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences company
- Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PLs), wholesalers, and other commercial service providers
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Experience with NetSuite or other large ERP systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred:
- Public accounting experience and/or publicly traded company experience
