Passport, a Series B automotive & transportation company, is seeking a strategic Manager of Business Development to lead and scale its BDR team. Reporting to the VP of Marketing, you'll own one of the company's largest pipeline drivers while building a high-performing team focused on quality prospecting outcomes, not just activity volume.
You will recruit, hire, and develop Business Development Representatives into world-class sales professionals and future Account Executives. Through regular 1:1 coaching, call reviews, role plays, and personalized development plans, you'll foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning. You'll act as a player-coach, leading by example and raising the bar for prospecting excellence.
On the performance side, you'll own team metrics and reporting, moving beyond activity counts (calls, emails) to evaluate conversion rates, meeting quality, pipeline creation, opportunity progression, and attribution. You'll partner with Revenue Operations to define performance questions, build scalable dashboards, and drive action from insights. You'll ensure CRM hygiene, Salesforce process adherence, and data integrity across the BDR organization, while optimizing territory planning, account prioritization, and capacity planning to hit pipeline and revenue goals.
You'll continuously improve inbound and outbound prospecting playbooks across phone, email, LinkedIn, video, and emerging channels. Working closely with Marketing, Partnerships, and 3PL teams, you'll test and optimize messaging, sequences, and outreach strategies. You'll provide feedback on campaign performance, lead quality, ICP targeting, and market trends to refine go-to-market effectiveness.
You'll champion AI-powered sales tools and workflows—evaluating emerging technologies, driving adoption, and coaching reps to use AI to enhance (not replace) personalized relationship building.
Required: 3+ years leading a BDR or SDR team in fast-growing B2B SaaS or technology. Proven experience managing with clear expectations, direct feedback, structured development plans, and performance decisions. Strong analytical skills diagnosing prospecting funnel performance using conversion rates, segmentation, and pipeline data. Track record developing early-career sales professionals. Experience creating and optimizing outbound strategies across multiple channels. Cross-functional leadership skills partnering with Marketing, Sales, Revenue Operations, Partnerships, and Customer Success. Hands-on experience with modern sales tech (Gong Engage, Salesloft, Salesforce, HubSpot, ZoomInfo, Clay, Highspot, ChatGPT, etc.). Strong curiosity about AI and proven ability to implement practical workflows that improve team productivity.
