Adyen is hiring Machine Learning Engineers (II and Senior levels) to join their Amsterdam office, working on the Protect and Account Risk Engine teams. You will design, productionize, and maintain machine learning services that power data products across the payments platform. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining production ML pipelines for data ingestion, training, validation, and deployment across domains such as online learning algorithms, clustering, supervised/semi-supervised learning for risk pattern inference, graph analysis, representation learning for behavior prediction, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) systems, and real-time anomaly detection using time-series modeling. You'll identify and fix performance bottlenecks in ML training and inference (memory, latency, training time), collaborate with software engineers to integrate ML solutions into products, work with data scientists to transition research prototypes into scalable solutions, partner with MLOps and platform teams on tooling integration, and support engineering best practices across product ML teams. Required qualifications: 5+ years as an engineer in machine learning; strong Python programming; full ML model lifecycle experience in production; big data pipeline creation; solid understanding of software engineering, data engineering, and MLOps principles; knowledge of data science, statistics, and ML techniques; strong familiarity with the data science toolkit (PySpark, Trino SQL, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost/LightGBM, Pandas, MLFlow, Airflow); experience with ML infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker, Airflow, Argo Workflows, Prometheus, Grafana); experimental mindset with launch-fast-iterate mentality; ability to lead projects from ideation to deployment and communicate complex outcomes to diverse stakeholders. Nice-to-have: experience with distributed GPU compute environments and ML feature stores. This is a full-time, in-office position requiring relocation to Amsterdam if not currently based in the Netherlands.
