As a Licensed Loan Consultant, you will deliver a consultative, personalized mortgage experience to borrowers based on their financial goals and circumstances. You will educate clients on available financing options—including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, HELOC, and specialized loan products—and recommend appropriate solutions. Leveraging Better's proprietary AI-enabled loan origination system (Tinman®) and voice-based AI assistant (Betsy™), you will manage opportunities and accelerate the lending process while maintaining the human advisor-client relationship.
Key responsibilities include engaging and converting company-provided opportunities while developing relationships through personal, professional, and referral networks. You will manage active pipelines from initial consultation through closing, maintain consistent communication with borrowers, real estate partners, and internal teams, and build lasting relationships that generate repeat business and referrals. Collaboration with operations, processing, underwriting, and closing teams is essential to delivering an exceptional customer experience. You must maintain accurate documentation, ensure regulatory compliance with federal and state lending regulations, and stay informed about market conditions and product updates.
Required qualifications include active NMLS registration and applicable state licenses (or ability to obtain them). Mortgage lending, financial services, sales, or relationship-management experience is preferred. You should have strong consultative sales and communication skills, the ability to understand borrower needs and explain complex financial information clearly, and comfort adopting AI, automation, and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and accountable for results—able to manage multiple clients and priorities in a fast-paced environment with a collaborative, client-first mindset.
