Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products to enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft.
You will join the global Legal Deal Desk team as a Team Lead based in Amsterdam, reporting to the Head of Deal Desk. You will manage and mentor a lean team of commercial lawyers who draft, review, and negotiate complex, multi-jurisdictional commercial agreements with vendors and commercial partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of pragmatic commercial lawyers
- Providing strategic, business-oriented legal advice to senior stakeholders across procurement, partnerships, product, and regulatory teams globally on contracting principles, commercial projects, and legal/regulatory compliance
- Serving as the primary escalation point for your team, guiding strategic, risk-based decisions on complex legal issues
- Driving legal automation efforts and process improvements to scale the team and enhance negotiation efficiency
- Advising on contract interpretation, early-stage disputes, and general commercial matters
- Ensuring a global voice and consistent standards across the Deal Desk, including developing negotiation playbooks and training internal teams
- Fostering strong collaboration and feedback loops within the Legal Team
- Staying current with developments in commercial law and relevant industry regulations
Requirements:
- 8+ years of legal experience (in-house or law firm)
- Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts with solid understanding of contract law principles
- Demonstrated experience managing, mentoring, and developing lawyers or other legal professionals
- Commitment to building diverse, inclusive teams
- Strong people skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders from varying disciplines and cultures
- Experience educating others on complex ideas and providing training
- Ability to structure and prioritize work in high-volume, fast-paced environments
- Process-oriented mindset with focus on efficiency improvements
