Crosby is an AI-native law firm that combines human legal expertise with proprietary technology to help ambitious companies execute commercial contracts faster and better. Founded by Stanford Law and Ramp alumni, the firm operates from NYC and serves clients like Cursor, Ramp, and Cognition.
As the second recruiter on the legal team, you will own full-cycle hiring across all legal roles—from sourcing and screening through scheduling and closing. You'll be a strategic partner to leadership, helping define what great hiring looks like at Crosby and building scalable recruiting processes.
Key responsibilities include: sourcing and engaging passive candidates (including lawyers not actively looking), partnering with hiring managers to deeply understand each role before pitching, closing discerning candidates from interested to committed, evangelizing Crosby's unique approach to law and AI, building candidate experience that becomes part of market perception, maintaining high hiring standards as the team scales, and continuously learning from conversations to improve recruiting and selling effectiveness.
The ideal candidate has recruiting experience in legal or demonstrated high-slope recruiting success in another domain with hunger to master legal recruiting quickly. You are a closer—someone who has moved in-demand, discerning candidates over the line, not just a sourcer. You have strong sourcing instincts, can build pipelines from scratch, communicate effectively to earn trust with both candidates and hiring managers, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced startup environment. Curiosity about AI and its impact on professional services is essential; you should speak credibly about these trends. Familiarity with ATS platforms (Crosby uses Ashby) is expected or you can pick it up quickly.
Bonus experience includes being an early or first recruiter who loves building from 0→1, recruiting lawyers or other high-end professional talent, and a track record as a culture and team builder.
Compensation includes competitive salary, equity, generous flexible PTO, medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA/FSA options, and 401(k) match.
