Dust is an enterprise AI operating system that empowers AI Operators at fast-moving companies to rewire how work gets done. Backed by Sequoia and founded by alumni from Stripe, OpenAI, and Stanford, Dust serves customers like Datadog, 1Password, and Cursor, with 70%+ weekly active users and rapid growth.
As Solutions Engineering Lead, you will build and lead the Solutions Engineering function across three pillars: pre-sales technical evaluations, post-sales customer implementations, and partner engagements. You will shape how Dust supports technical discovery, pilots, onboarding, and expansion while remaining hands-on with the most complex enterprise opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and grow the Solutions Engineering team, recruiting 4–6 engineers across pre-sales, post-sales, and partnerships during your first year.
- Define team structure, roles, career paths, operating standards, and success metrics for each function.
- Build repeatable playbooks for technical discovery, pilots, onboarding, implementation, enablement, expansion, and partner co-selling.
- Establish shared standards for technical capability, Dust platform expertise, demo craft, and customer communication.
- Coach and develop the team through feedback, performance reviews, technical enablement, and leadership development.
- Maintain hands-on expertise in Dust's API, data connectors, agent orchestration, prompt engineering, and integration architecture.
- Work directly with customer and partner engineering teams to validate integrations using APIs, Postman, and custom scripts.
- Build reusable technical content including reference architectures, security documentation, integration guides, and enablement materials.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, and Partnerships to shape technical strategy and turn customer feedback into product roadmap input.
- Help establish Dust's technical positioning across enterprise security, integrations, agent architecture, and workflow automation.
You bring at least three years of experience leading technical teams across pre-sales, post-sales, solutions consulting, or related functions, with experience managing multiple Solutions Engineering functions. You combine strategic thinking with hands-on, low-ego leadership. You have deep technical expertise across APIs, integrations, data connectors, and enterprise architecture, can write production code in Python, TypeScript, Bash, or similar languages, and understand enterprise integration patterns, security, and compliance (REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, SSO, MCP, SOC 2, GDPR). You can explain differences between agentic systems, workflow automation, and copilot products to technical and non-technical audiences.
