Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is seeking a Program Finance professional to support its growing operations. The role focuses on financial analysis and planning for program management and aircraft operations teams.
Key responsibilities include building and maintaining financial models for forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning; analyzing data trends to develop business insights and recommendations for leadership; and partnering closely with Program Management and Aircraft Ops teams on program health, spend trends, and headcount planning. You will develop reporting cadences and dashboards using Power BI and Excel to track KPIs and business performance, participate in month-end and quarter-end close processes with variance analysis and executive reporting, and assist with financial operational planning cycles and investment decision-making.
Additional duties include supporting data transformation initiatives, driving process improvement through automation and efficiency opportunities, partnering with inventory and supply chain teams to monitor material costs and usage, and collaborating with program managers on actuals vs. plan monitoring, risk/opportunity flagging, and EAC updates. You'll ensure financial alignment of day-to-day operations with long-term strategic goals through regular operational reviews and ad hoc analysis.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field; 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, corporate finance, or FP&A; advanced Excel and financial modeling proficiency; strong understanding of US GAAP with practical government contracting or manufacturing experience; familiarity with cost accounting and government contract structures (T&M, CPFF, FFP); working knowledge of Power BI; solid understanding of financial statements and business metrics; ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally; and excellent communication skills for presenting complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications include an MBA or Master's degree, experience in manufacturing/aerospace/tech operations, exposure to Microsoft Fabric/Power Query/DAX, familiarity with ERP systems like Costpoint/Oracle and planning tools like Vena/Anaplan, and a track record as a high performer with bias for action and attention to detail.
