Writer is an enterprise generative AI platform that enables leading companies (Mars, Marriott, Uber, Vanguard) to build and deploy AI agents grounded in their proprietary data. You will join as Senior Staff Product Manager, reporting directly to the VP of Product. This is a high-impact individual contributor role where you'll operate as a force-multiplier across the product organization. You'll own ambiguous, multi-team problem spaces that span multiple product areas and surfaces, acting as both strategist and operator.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drive high-impact product initiatives end-to-end, from discovery through launch and iteration across multiple squads
- Shape product strategy and roadmap in partnership with VP of Product, translating company goals into ambitious bets
- Conduct customer discovery with enterprise buyers, end users, and prospects to validate problem-solution fit
- Partner with engineering and design to define requirements and navigate technical tradeoffs, with fluency in LLMs, agents, platform architecture, and data
- Align cross-functional stakeholders across go-to-market, sales, marketing, customer success, and leadership
- Define and own success metrics, using data and qualitative signals to evaluate impact and communicate outcomes
- Mentor and coach other PMs, modeling best practices and strengthening a culture of rigor, customer obsession, and velocity
The role offers flexibility in scope and compensation based on experience level. Writer has office hubs in San Francisco, New York City, Seattle, Austin, Chicago, and London.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of product management experience with a track record of owning and shipping complex, high-impact products, ideally in SaaS, platform, infrastructure, or AI/ML-driven environments
- Senior- or staff-level experience operating autonomously across ambiguous, multi-team problem spaces and influencing outcomes beyond your immediate team
- Genuine customer obsession with ability to synthesize signal from noise and design from deep understanding of workflows and pain points
- Technical credibility to engage meaningfully with engineers and researchers on system design, LLM capabilities, data, and architecture
- Strong strategic thinking combined with relentless execution capability
- Exceptional communication skills tailored for diverse audiences, from engineers to executives, driving alignment without org chart authority
- Mentor's instinct and builder's drive with data-informed, outcome-driven mindset
Nice to haves:
- Experience building products powered by LLMs, generative AI, or large-scale AI/ML systems
- Background in enterprise software, developer platforms, or developer-facing products
- Familiarity with AI governance, guardrails, and operational considerations of deploying AI in regulated or high-stakes environments
