Salary: USD 166,000 - 220,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The company develops systems powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that delivers real-time 3D command and control. You will join the Maneuver Dominance team at the Costa Mesa headquarters, working on an early-stage, undisclosed autonomous air vehicle (AAV) program.
As Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you serve as the critical bridge between design intent and physical execution. You will transform complex technical data packages into a robust, repeatable build reality for the autonomous air vehicle program. Working closely with design teams early in development, you will drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) through rigorous GD&T reviews, tolerance stack-ups, and EBOM-to-MBOM alignment to ensure producibility from the outset.
You will architect the overall production flow by breaking down complex vehicle assemblies into logical sub-processes while authoring work instructions, quality plans, and inspection requirements for full build traceability. You will be highly hands-on, working side-by-side with technicians and inspectors on the build floor to coordinate integration activities, deconflict priorities, and troubleshoot electromechanical assembly issues in real time.
Key responsibilities include: developing process flows and breaking down large assemblies into logical part flows; providing guidance on EBOM structure; writing manufacturing documentation (work instructions, MBOMs, quality plans, inspection requirements); serving as a conduit between engineering technical data packages and technicians; driving DFM early in development with tolerance stack-ups and GD&T checks; developing build process flow in partnership with design engineers; owning MBOM creation and management; defining work execution strategy including work instructions and part consumption; coordinating integration activities across the build; being hands-on during builds to execute the manufacturing plan and resolve issues in real time; capturing lessons learned to drive improvements into future units; and embedding yourself in the design process as a bridge between design intent and manufacturing reality.
The team operates in a lean, high-ownership culture where the entire vehicle team sits side-by-side, iterating quickly and making decisions in real time. Given the early stage of the program, you will have influence over foundational architecture decisions and the opportunity to redefine an existing platform.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in a technical field preferred (engineering, math, or hard science)
- 8+ years of experience in a relevant field, preferably manufacturing or design of electromechanical hardware
- Demonstrated ability to creatively deliver electromechanical hardware in a resource-constrained environment
- Deep expertise in DFM, tolerance analysis, and GD&T, with ability to influence design decisions directly
- Hands-on experience creating and managing MBOMs, work instructions, and build process flows
- Attitude of world-class mission assurance, quality, attention to detail, and dedication
- Genuine interest in manufacturing and thirst for learning
- Flexibility and dedication to work extended hours and weekends when dictated by critical business priorities
- Regular travel between various locations is essential
- Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US security clearance
