As Lead AI/LLM Engineer, you will build and deploy the AI systems powering the platform, set technical direction, and mentor the engineering team. This is a hands-on role combining individual contribution with technical leadership.
Mandatory qualifications include demonstrated experience building and deploying autonomous AI agents powered by LLMs to production environments, and deep knowledge of LLM optimization and performance tuning.
Highly desirable skills include: robust data pipeline development using advanced SQL and Snowflake (SQL, stored procedures in JavaScript/Python); event-driven architectures (streams, tasks, queues, async orchestration); performance benchmarking and optimization (API and Snowflake latency); system design and architectural decision-making; AWS services (S3, CodeBuild, ECS, CI/CD); and modern frontend development (Next.js, React 19, TypeScript 5, React Query).
Healthcare domain experience, familiarity with payer/provider data, pricing/contracts knowledge, and early-stage startup experience are nice-to-have.
The role is full-time and hybrid, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Candidates must be local to the Bay Area. The hiring process is streamlined: one technical screen and one hiring manager/HR screen.
