Salary: USD 138,200 - 190,100 / annual
Archer is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for sustainable air mobility. The Special Programs team is a rapid-prototyping, cross-functional engineering group supporting advanced and defense-focused development efforts.
In this role, you will lead aeromechanics, thermal management, and acoustics design and analysis for prototype vehicles. You'll own the technical approach, standards, and analysis methods for these disciplines within Special Programs, working end-to-end from concept sizing through bench testing and flight test support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead aerodynamic performance modeling, thermal management design, and acoustic signature analysis for prototype aircraft
- Support rapid prototyping efforts from concept through ground and flight testing
- Set technical standards and analysis methods for aeromechanics, thermal, and acoustics disciplines
- Conduct technical feasibility assessments of new opportunities and emerging concepts
- Serve as a cross-functional contributor across Special Programs when needed
- Collaborate with program leads and broader engineering teams to align technical approaches
- Produce technical documentation, trade studies, and analysis packages
- Represent Special Programs work in internal reviews and government stakeholder discussions
You'll need a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (advanced degree preferred), 8–12 years of relevant aerospace engineering experience, and demonstrated expertise in aerodynamic analysis, thermal management, or acoustic analysis. Proficiency with CFD, thermal/fluid modeling, and acoustic prediction tools is required. You must be comfortable working independently with significant technical ownership, operating as a generalist when program needs require it, and evaluating early-stage technical feasibility. U.S. Person status and ability to obtain a security clearance are mandatory due to ITAR/EAR requirements.
