Passport, a Series B shipping and logistics platform for e-commerce brands, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Lead to join its growing finance team. This hybrid role owns the end-to-end accounts payable function, including invoice intake, coding, approval routing, and payment batch preparation for the freight carrier network and vendor invoices. You will ensure vendors are paid accurately and on time while maintaining robust AP controls to prevent duplicate, inaccurate, or unauthorized payments. Key responsibilities include managing vendor onboarding, tax documentation, and vendor master data; reviewing payment batches for policy compliance before submission to the Accounting Manager; monitoring cash requirements and flagging funding needs; and supervising an AP Coordinator while quality-checking work from external data-entry resources. You will manage corporate card compliance in Ramp, including coding accuracy, receipt enforcement, and policy adherence, and support annual 1099 filings and vendor tax compliance. You will also own a defined slice of the general ledger and month-end close activities, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations. Your responsibilities extend to recurring cost and shipping-spend reporting, partnering with Operations to explain variances and trends. You will lead process and automation improvements across QuickBooks Online, Tipalti, Bill.com, and Ramp to strengthen controls, improve accuracy, and shorten the close cycle. The ideal candidate has 4–6 years of accounts payable experience, including 1–2 years directly supervising AP staff or an outsourced resource. You should have hands-on general accounting experience (journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close), solid working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, and experience in a controls-conscious environment. Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, Tipalti, Bill.com, and Ramp, plus advanced Excel skills, is required. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is expected. CPA or active progress toward CPA is a plus. Experience in shipping, logistics, or e-commerce is valued.
